Pre-seasoned

All Emba cast iron cookware is seasoned by hand in the factory, so they are ready to be used immediately.  The hand seasoning process is a simple coating of vegetable oil, baked onto the surface of the cast iron.  It provides a durable, non-stick surface, creating the timeless black colour associated with heritage cast iron products.  This seasoning helps to provide the perfect charred finish for maximum taste and perfect texture.  New cookware should be rinsed with warm water and dried completely before use.

General Cooking

Cast iron cookware can take slightly longer to heat up compared to other cookware, due to its thickness.  Cookware should be pre-heated on a medium heat for 7-8 minutes before cooking.  Once heated, apply a drop of oil, then your choice of food.  Foods with a higher fat content are most suitable for the first few uses. as they help to build the seasoned coating.

Cleaning

Clean when cookware is still warm.  Wash using warm water and a drop of washing up liquid, drying thoroughly.  After each use apply a very light layer (1-2 drops only) of vegetable oil to the surface.
